In 1900 every home catalogue had large selections of mirrors for mass consumption, and every home, bedroom, living room or dining room had to have a large wall mirror. This was the time when Art Nouveau was the style and mirror frames had elaborate natural motifs.
Today Art Nouveau mirrors are still very popular and if you can find a turn of the 20th century mirror in an auction you will quickly find out that it fetches a hefty price. You can however buy an Art Nouveau inspired mirror for much less and still bring all the charm, the colors, the motifs of Art Nouveau mirrors in your own home decor. One thing to remember about Art Nouveau mirror frames is that at the time there was a total reinvention of the frame and of the concept of art. Some frames are no longer square but flow like nature.
