Baby Blankets and Gifts For Boys

Baby blankets for boys need not be blue or have cars or tools or numbers on them. Newborn boys don’t know they’re suppose to be mechanics or mathematicians yet and they have no preconceived notions that they should play with cars or tools or like BLUE! So unless you know for certain that mom is crazy about blue and loves cars and tools and math, don’t stereotype the poor baby too early.

Baby Tag Blanket, Chenille and Fleece

The best and most useful baby boy blanket will be none gender specific and by that I mean a soft and comfy organic cotton set of neutral colored cashmere baby blankets or receiving blankets that can be used every day. The least important part will be the baby blankets patterns and the most important things are baby blanket size, softness and washability.

Some good ones to consider are a baby tag blanket that will entertain baby, or cuddly chenille baby blankets and especially if baby is born in the winter some fleece blankets. Baby gift selection is abundant, but choosing baby products that will not just be more baby stuff for mom to have to deal with can be tricky. That is why I always recommend blankets that will be good for a newborn and later can be used in a small baby bed or crib. Handmade baby quilts, baby bassinets and especially baby security blankets and large toddler blankets that can double as baby boy crib bedding will be good safe gifts for a baby boy.

Baby Boy Gift Basket

If you’re searching for a baby boy gift here is a suggestion that you can do if you have a group of friends who all chip in: Create a baby boy gift basket with some natural organic baby blankets, add a few baby bibs (plain or neutral colors) that have a vinyl or rubber backing, some toile baby bedding (toile bedding is another word for fine baby linens) in a neutral design or color, security blankets that have a monkey (the little giraffe blankets are great too) or some none feminine animal (which seems like a funny thing to say…I mean… which animals are masculine and which are feminine?).

If someone is talented in that area they could make a couple of personalized blankets from some simple receiving blankets, monogramming the little baby boys name or birth date on it. Add two useful baby products like an organic baby shampoo and powder and a few wash cloths. You can add some organic bamboo or cotton diapers, a set of cotton night shirts and the basket will be overflowing with everything mom needs for her newborn. Avoid adding useless items that are expensive like silver spoons, fancy bowls or baby dishes, small or large stuffed animals that may or may not match mom’s idea of good taste. If you need to add a little color or something different, select a children’s story book, a CD of soothing music or a book for mom about raising a baby boy. Keep it all soft, natural and neutral in tone and color. Don’t overdue the basket with blue bows and white storks. Wrap in clear cellophane and decorate with natural tulle as ribbon and some fresh flowers that mom can enjoy.
