I have written about the different kind of lighting, and explored what kind of light is best in your home, and certainly a bare bulb holder can provide light but it hardly qualifies as good lighting, it might keep you from stabbing your toes in the dark, but we all know that as lighting goes it is very harsh on the eyes. That is why we use fixtures to shield the bulb and diffuse the light.
Once in a while there is an area where the glare will not be not be an issue and we are willing to use a bare bulb holder. Finding a good looking amusing fixture is not easy. The one I present here, is fun and I particularly like the night light idea of it. The Creative Bulb Holder is a little man trying to saw the wire and whose head is the bulb. Very humorous it is sure to please young and old, and attract attention anywhere.
I particularly like the plug in the wall one, the smaller bulb holder could be used as a night light in most any room, unfortunately it is not available for sale anywhere at this time.
Since I could not find a distributor for this light I did some research to find alternatives to enhance design for people who love good design but still want to use a bare bulb fixture.
In keeping with the little man idea I found this Black+Blum Reading Light Table Light. Use is with a silvered bulb (40 watt bulb supplied with light) to ensure that all the light reflected goes down and does not glare up. It is not totally a bare bulb light since it does have a semi translucent polypropylene shade, but it brings back the fun in a simple light bulb. Available in 3 colors and standing at 9" it also makes a fun gift for any occasion.
For those who really like a bare bulb but don't want to put up with an ugly bulb holder there is e27 - socket lamp by mattias stahlbom for muuto, in green, yellow, red , white, or gray it offers a romantic view of the light bulb, a light where the socket celebrates simplicity and minimalism at its best.
