If the drawstring curtain rod single or double track was the easiest to use, there is a definite trend to replace it with a more interesting formula that fits our windows much better and gives them a touch of personality they never exhibited before.
One fast easy and fairly inexpensive way to make a change in the way a room look is to change the curtain rods.
Curtain rods have become home decor accessories at the same title as the curtain fabric they hold or door knobs and wall decor.
A new revolution has taken place in the curtain rods world. With the apparition of new fixtures for curtains and blinds, the rods are getting in the fashion show. They play up to the materials used, and with shapes.
The most mundane rods, a round piece of simple wood can be painted in any bright color to match or contrast with the curtains. This painted wood curtain rod is particularly effective in children rooms.
To accentuate a dark wood, we can use large copper or wrought iron rings to hang the curtains. The opposite option would be to use metal curtain rods with rattan or wicker rings, this is better for light curtains.
If you have heavy drapes in a living room, you can use traditional rods but you can make them more noticeable by adding originals finials. You could find finials to correspond to your hobby or passion: Birds for bird-watchers, or leaves for tree lovers… The finials can sport geometric shapes for contemporary interiors, ornate wood for a traditional home or have a rustic charm for a country home. They can be colorful plastic pieces for a child’s room.
Curtain rods can be mounted differently depending on the window and its position on the wall.
It can be attached:
▪ With supports to the wall above the window.
▪ To the ceiling when there is not enough space above the window.
▪ Between two walls for a large panel.
It is a good idea whenever possible to let the rod extend on each side of the window, about 8 to 12 inches, to let light in, and to give the impression of a larger window.
