Yellow is known for aiding concentration, memory, thought and expression, it is the color that best represents decision. Believe it or not, a yellow decor can actually generate a good attitude.

It is a warm and bright color that can be used in many tints depending on the mood you try to achieve.

In a bedroom it can be "cooled" by adding green elements or another cold color like white or blue. In the kitchen you can go all the way with bright colors even add orange or red, for a lively look. In a living room or a bedroom you might choose more pastel colors, but nothing constrain you to do so. If you feel like having a darker more orange tone indulge yourself, particularly if the room is low in natural light, it will benefit from it.

It is useful to use yellow in rooms that are naturally dark, (small windows or northern orientation for example.) If you have a small room, a slightly orange-yellow has the added benefit to give the illusion of spaciousness.

Lemon or any bright yellow is energizing, use it in offices or studies, the kitchen but also in well used areas. However very bright yellow makes such a strong, powerful statement that is best used with thought and restraint. You can mix it with cooler elements like light colored wood furniture, steel, or touches of light browns.

The greatest asset of yellow is that is merges with almost any color for a variety of effects. Neutrals or strong colors are at home right next to yellow. Gray allied to yellow is chic, red, purple, orange can provide tonic energy, but such energy can become tiresome after a period of time so it is advised to have a wide range of accessories that you can replace from time to time. In juxtaposition to primary colors it can be a very powerful and vibrant look for a child's room. Used with browns it is perfect as a backdrop to 50's style furniture.
