Egyptian Cotton Bedding

Egyptian cotton has long been a favorite fabric for sheets and pillow cases.  For those who have slept on the soft, fine cotton fiber bedding, they know the meaning of a good night's sleep.  But, what makes Egyptian cotton the most elegant and the softest of fabrics?

Egyptian cotton is grown in a very small region along the Nile River.  The humidity and soil are perfect for growing exceptionally long cotton fibers that are nourished to soft perfection.  The length of the fibers makes spinning them into very fine cotton threads easy.

Because of the ultra fine cotton threads the thread count of the bedding can be higher than most using single strands.  While thread counts for Egyptian cotton bedding can be as high as 1,000 or 1, 500, a good quality sheet or pillow case can be purchased made from Egyptian cotton with a thread count of 400.  There is no need to spend more money for higher thread count bedding if it is made from the finest Egyptian cotton.
