Here are a few ideas to get your Halloween home decor going in all simplicity or with elegance depending on what you want to accomplish.
The colors for Halloween are black and orange, and you should incorporate them without spending a fortune. If you plan on keeping some of the decoration for later in the fall season, use black items that can be separated from the rest easily.
Pumpkins are a must, for Halloween and for Thanksgiving, it is impossible to forgo pumpkins. Fortunately they are available everywhere and decorating with them can be very effective. You can do the traditional Jack O Lantern, and there are many simple or elaborate ways to cut and carve them, however, there are also simple elegant ways to use pumpkins in your home decor.
Here is a very elegant yet simple way to paint pumpkins to decorate your entryway either inside or outside.

Or if you don’t think you are talented for paint simply spray paint the entire pumpkin and drill holes with an electric drill.

With small decorative pumpkins a simple solution is to cut the top and scoop out the flesh, insert a tea candle and display on a table. You could even place them on a table runner as your dinner table centerpiece. If you run out of time you can simply place the little pumpkins in a flat basket with a few fall leaves for a very quick easy centerpiece. No pumpkins, not a problem, you can substitute some oranges. The idea is really to have some orange color and lights everywhere in the house you can add a little Halloween decor.

A special Halloween diner table might be the occasion to use black dishes on a grey tablecloth. A few orange candle jars and a few small pumpkins with fall flowers will provide a fun but very elegant setting for a more mature gathering.

For a really impressive party decor, carve out the inside of a large pumpkin, (it should be large enough to accommodate a large bowl). Paint the pumpkin black and varnish, it may take a couple of coats of paint. Serve your punch from this unusual Halloween serving bowl.

You can also decorate glasses with glass paint. Use a simple design drawn or printed on a piece of paper, insert the paper into the glass and trace on the outside of the glass with a paint pen. You can remove the paint later if you want or save the glasses for another year.

Do you want to push the baroque theme a little further? You can display inexpensive black candelabras with 3 or 5 branches.

You can replace your usual curtains with black curtains, a simple piece of curtain fabric is sufficient. If you need to hem them no need to waste a lot of time sewing, you can use fabric glue for a quick edge.
How far do you want to push the haunted look?Cover your chairs with white sheets, accessorize with a few spider webs. Use a coat rack in your entryway and hang a witch’s broom, cape and/or hat. (One might never know what the lady of the house might be!)
The easiest and fastest way to decorate your walls is to dress them with removable wall decals. These are also usable on windows. Perfect for children rooms as any other room in the house, they will totally transform the habitual atmosphere of the house.
Of course if you have a fireplace a good fire will top off the theme. All you need to add is a little music appropriate for the season.
