At the dawn of 2010 we no longer use wall clocks to tell us the time but rather as decorative objects in our home. A large wall clock is as much a part of your interior design as any other furniture item.

Since I was a little girl and I used to watch my grandfather wind the old grandfather clock I have always be fascinated with clocks of all sorts. Now I am not going to give you some obsolete image of old clock but show you that there are wall clocks available for everyone and every taste.

As a decorative element you will choose your clock in function of the place where you intend to put it. Size will be dictated by the space you need to fill, a large wall clock might be just what your living room needs while a small clock might find its place in a kitchen. Style to match your interior design will not be a problem as you can find Baroque black and white clocks, as easily as retro or futuristic metal clocks on today's market, and shopping on line for a clock has just multiplied the possibilities as it gives you access to the world's best designers.

A large wall clock by Hangarter, in either black or red it is a simple modern design. I particularly like the black one with its down to earth no nonsense look contrasted with a large number 6 on a red dot. It is interesting to note that the 6 is the only number on the face of this clock.

For another look at a simple striking clock you need to look no further than the QlockTwo from Biegert & Funk. This may be simple but it is certainly not typical. This digital clock has neither hands nor numbers, how then does it tell time? It spells it out in all letters. Time is displayed at five minutes intervals but there is a way to tell time in a more accurate fashion, just look in the corner and four little dots tell the minutes.

At around $1200, this a rather pricey clock but you actually get several clocks in one. You can change your decor at will by changing the face of your clock.

Fan Clock

Stanislav Katz is another designer with an eye for the unexpected when we are talking about wall clocks. He created this Fanclock, a clock that makes watching time flies a little faster.

Is retro more your style? Are you willing to go back all the way to the early 50's then the Ball Clock is for you. It was first introduced by George Nelson in 1948 and has endured till today and can still be found at Wallmart online (Not available in stores) The center is made of aluminum and the balls are painted wood.

So far all the clock I talked about were round but today a clock does not need to be circular, any shape is available to you. Like this Nextime Curved Pipe 15.7'' Wall Clock with Frosted Glass Aluminium click on the image to learn more.

Even inexpensive wall clocks can make a striking statement on a wall.

You can, by choosing the right analog wall clock add originality, color or a touch of baroque to any room, all you have to do is decide on the right harmony with your decor, you are sure to find it.
