Medicine Cabinets Safety And Style In The Bathroom

Medicine cabinets are not something we spend much time to think about, until you move in a house that does not have one, as I did a few years ago. Well let's face it, we all have a need to store those personal products we would rather people not poke their nose into, and we also need to ensure that our medication is kept safely away from children as results could be disastrous. In the USA, we are all very familiar with the recessed wall medicine cabinet with a mirror face. It serves a couple of purposes you can store away your medications, and other bathroom items, and you can use the mirror to shave, or apply make up.

These medicine cabinets can, of course, be decorative as well and you will find some in a variety of styles from contemporary design to baroque, passing through the classic American antique collections. The depth of exposure of the cabinet will vary with the style you choose, some are flush with the wall giving the appearance of being only a mirror. Most of these mirrored medicine cabinets do not lock. The one sure thing is that you will find a medicine cabinet to fit both your style and your budget.

Contemporary, to American Classic, to Baroque, medicine cabinets for every style

I like a contemporary decor and am always looking for the unusual item that can spark the imagination and stimulate the senses. I was very pleased to find this beautifully made steel recessed cabinet, by the Florida based company, Lasertron Direct. The cabinet is lit by LED light and can be used in a kitchen, a bar, or a bath. The doors have a choice of abstract cut out adding interest to your bathroom.

Next I found these small glass and aluminum cabinets. You can use one or several to make a statement. Each medicine cabinet measures 14.75" x 14.75" x 7.5" and has its own key, choose one color, one symbol or any combination that works for your home. However, they are a little pricey at $480 each.

Finally, I have to include my absolute favorite. It is Vision a three-dimensional storage cabinet. It does not have a lock and key, but it is an ingenious design with gripless fronts that use a pneumatic pressure operated opening system. The variations are infinite as each module is a box open on two sides to which you can add drawers, doors, shelves even legs. Some are sized for CDs, and you have a wide choice of sizes to accommodate anything you want. Available in a variety of colors as well. (no price given)
