Central vacuum flexibilityMistakes people make when selecting and installing a central vacuum system

There is no doubt about the fact that a central vacuum system is a very good vacuum cleaning system for your residence.  However if you don’t purchase wisely and install properly, you could be frustrated that what is an excellent system may not operate to its potential in your home.  In this article I will discuss some of the most common mistakes people make with regard to the purchasing and installation of a central vacuum system.

1.  They do not plan the installation of a central vacuum properly.  A central vacuum system is most easily planned and installed when the residence is at planning or construction.  That is not to say that a central vacuum cannot be installed into an existing residence.  But with an existing residence you have to deal with an existing layout of interior wall thickness and room layout.  When a residence is still under construction it is much simpler to lay out the central vacuum system properly thereby saving on material costs and labour costs.

3.  Sometimes this can be slightly harder to achieve but is possible the base unit should be situated in a room that has an external wall.  The reason for this is that when the unit is in such a room, the owners have the option to have external filtration of a central vacuum system.  This means that not only will the vacuumed dirt be removed from the living area, but the air used in this process can be expelled from the residence. This can be an important feature if you have allergy sufferers in your home.

4.  Most central vacuum systems come with a lot of accessories.  You would not believe the amount of items with specific functions that manufacturers such as ‘Beam’ produce to compliment their central vacuum systems.  Locate a central storage location for these accessories so that they are easily located when you are vacuuming.  There is little use in having a very useful upholstery-cleaning accessory for your central vacuum system, only to have it stored and forgotten in the shed at the bottom of the garden.

These are common mistakes that people often make purchasing and installing a central vacuum system.  By reading this article, taking note of the above points and making sure to avoid making these mistakes yourself, you are sure to get more benefit from your central vacuum system when you have it installed.
