Did you move in an apartment and found that the walls look not as freshly painted as they should? If you cannot redo the whole paint on your walls for whatever reasons there are ways to hide wall imperfections quickly, inexpensively and effectively.

Think about wall decals. Vinyl wall decals are a simple home decor solution to hide a spot or a hole in a wall. These are temporary solutions as they can be removed anytime you want. An advantage, if you live in an apartment and will be moving later. You can certainly leave it in place, if that is what you want, at least until you are ready to paint the wall. All you have to do is find the right type and color of wall decal that will make your wall stand out, and in that respect you should have no difficulties, as there are countless designs and motifs to choose from.

This can also be a good solution for children rooms where your budding artist may have caused some lipstick havoc on a wall.

For a larger area consider using a strip of wall paper. You don’t need to wall paper a whole wall. In fact as you can see in this article about unique wall paper uses, a single strip can be a great design complement to a room. There are very large wall decals that can cover an entire wall, if you need and some designs are really spectacular.

You can give a touch of renewal to any room in the house, including a tiled bathroom. There are rub on decals that can be applied to bathroom wall tiles. But be careful as these are not easily removed. I would not recommend applying those on a rental property without prior approval from the owners, or rental agent.

Introducing the wallpaper shelf. Now this concept is better shown with images than explained.

The shelf imitates a partly unstuck roll of wallpaper. It is functional and an original way to create an illusion, which is what designer Vincent Olm was intending to do. The self itself is a composite of metal and polyethylene, a material that is fairly thick and will support books but light enough to give the illusion of paper. The wallpaper part of the shelf can be decorated anyway you want. Not yet available in stores this is an idea that has merit.
