Blue offers so many shades and tints that is acceptable for any interior decorating project. It is a simple color that gives us the feeling of flight and far away places. It comes in varied shades like indigo, ocean blue cyan, marine, sapphire...

Light blue, just like a bluish gray, is relaxing and calming, it is therefore a very suitable color for a bedroom. To prevent the atmosphere to be "too cold" you can add a few touches of mauve or indigo. These other color touches can be added as accessories, a vase on a table, a lamp, or a painting on a wall. Light colored wood furniture matches blue very well, so does any rustic type furniture.

Sky blue brightens up a room. Perfect even if a little over used for bathrooms, sky blue makes a room appears larger than it is. With a little more intensity to the blue it is also a good color for kitchens or for bedrooms where a touch of off white or grey can give a pleasant effect.

Blue green is warm and mixes well with shades of mauve or pale pink as well as beige. It can liven up a dark room. It is often used by professionals but it can be tricky to use. Get good samples before embarking into a big project.

Lilac (can be on the purple side or blue) is warm, add to off white to create an intimate ambience. Best in bedrooms.

Dark blue just like turquoise is to be use with moderation. Marine blue is very effective and beautiful when used sparingly, if your room receives a lot of light. Avoid to make it the dominant color in the room, by painting only one wall instead of all of them. White, beige are color than can complement it well, for an interior that is chic and dignified.

To use blue effectively I recommend that some caution be used as it is an intense color. It is usually better to paint one wall, and see how you like it, when you are sure that you have the correct tint and intensity then continue with the other walls. Use it with light colored carpet or hardwood floors.

Will you dare using blue and orange together? If you like it there is no reason not to do it, but be careful to use accents, not large overwhelming areas.
