What Flower Vase Should You Use

There is nothing like a flower vase with beautiful flowers to raise your spirit. Now that spring is here we are anxious to bring nature and flowers back in our lives and in our homes. Flower vases are available in every material imaginable, and let’s not talk about size or we will be here for ever. You need a big flower vase for a very large bunch of flowers of course you will find one just as easily as you will find a small pretty one for a single rose.

Glass flower vases are a whole category all by themselves. You can find clear glass, smoked glass, colored glass and type of glass has been used to make vases. My preference go to a glass flower vase that is simple clear and the form and design is what makes it appealing. Glass can be thick or thin, and the effect will end up being  very different depending on your choice of glass.

If glass is the most commonly use material for flower vases, ceramic is probably the second one. Ceramic just like glass can come in a variety of shapes and colors. If you want a whimsical flower vase it is often easier to find it in ceramic than it is in glass.

How should you choose a flower vase?

Any home should have a few vases stored away for the day that someone shows up with a gorgeous bouquet. What would you do if you did not have a something ready to put them in. For this reason you should anticipate a few situations to be ready when the time comes.

You should have a tall cylinder type to hold long stem flowers with a rather rigid stem, like tulips, irises, gladiolas and so on…

A conical vase, the kind that is wider near the rim that it is at the base, it lets flowers “flop” and lean towards the side of the vase. It is the perfect choice for bouquets of wild flowers, and other flowers that lack discipline. A very large one is great for large bouquets of garden or wild flowers that you gathered yourself.

Finally you should have a round ball type. Not very high and round, it is usually pretty stable when filled with water. This is the one to prefer for light flowers like anemones, lilac, peonies or dahlias.

Remember that no everyone has the right flower vase at home, so when offering flowers (on mother’s day or for another occasion) be kind and bring the right vase along.
