What You Need to Know Before Buying Baby Bedding

Every expectant family looks forward to the new arrival.  Months of anticipation precede the event.  During that time most parents-to-be purchase a crib and expectant mothers decide on a theme for the nursery.  Then, they set out to purchase the perfect baby bedding.

However, the safety of the baby is more important than the theme of the nursery.  It is important to buy a crib that meets the standard guidelines for safety.  The mattress for the crib also is a standard size that prevents the infant from getting his head between the sides of the crib and the edge of the mattress.

What most new parents fail to consider is the baby bedding itself.  Instead of looking for patterns and designs, parents should first confirm that the bedding fits snugly on the mattress.  The pocket corners of the sheet should be deep enough to keep them from popping up and off the mattress.  A newborn could easily get caught in loose covers and smother.

After purchasing the infant's first set of bedding, take it home and try it out before the newborn comes home.  This simple exercise could save the baby's life.
