Traditional bookcases are very useful objects and we cannot live without them, so whether you are looking for a wood tone bookcase, or whether you prefer a white bookcase, even when you choose an antique white bookcase, a traditional bookcase is still just that a boring bookcase, but you can liven up your decor a little with unusual bookcases.
My first selection, because I am such an avid reader that I am always looking for additional space on my shelf is a white bookcase that grows with your needs. No more buying new shelves to fit the new apartment this case will adapt to the size of the room. No longer will your bookcase look half empty this bookcase will always look full, and when you buy new books you will still have space for them (up to a certain point of course.)
Truly a flexible system this bookshelf will meet your needs at home or the office. Compact or XXL you will never have to get rid of a shelf because it has become too small. For me this represents the perfect white bookcase if certainly not an inexpensive white bookcase.
If a growing white bookshelf is not what you need and you are looking for a small item, perhaps to store a few trinkets and books why be closed in a rigid format. Look at something more dynamic like the Tangram shelves. Designed by Lago an Italian brand these shelves take the playfulness of the game we remember from our childhood. You can select a red, black or white bookcase, or you can mix colors for a striking effect. You get 7 modules that can be arranged anyway you want.
The Tangram shelves are as suitable for a living room as they are for a child room. The Skew lego bookcase is very appropriate for a child room, unless you feel like going back to a time of your childhood and have legos back in your life, the two shown here are certainly not white book shelves but I had to include them here for their whimsical quality.
The shelves on this bookcase are purposefully slanted. This is what Swedish designers Smånsk says about it : " Sloping shelves mean you do not have to arrange the shelves in various heights as with ordinary bookcases. There are room for binders at the high end of each shelve and pocket books at the low end."
But if what you are looking for is truly the unusual then the Wavy bookshelf might be made for you. A creation of Sang Hoon Kim, it is definitely not your traditional design, with concave and convex shapes this reminder of sea waves is sure to be the surfer's dream bookcase.
I consider this white bookcase more artistic than it is practical, unless of course you have books with curvy shapes.
If on the other hand you would rather have a corner white bookcase I would suggest that you tap Abhinav Dapke's imagination. Your corner will never be ignored again thanks to his corner bookcase "the corner tree". This white corner book shelf displays a zig zag design that is inspired by a tree with a strange growth pattern. One thing tbat can be said about it, is that having a wall on each side offers a lot more stability.
If you are decorating your children's room finding the right kid's white bookcase is mostly dependent on the child's age. For a young child you will want two characteristics, first a bookcase the child can reach, and that can grow with the child.
All the bookcases I have discussed so far are a lot of fun and very modern, this does not in any way mean that you cannot buy a more traditional kind of bookcase in white. In fact it is possible to even find a white barrister bookcase (you may have a harder time finding it). White bookcases with door are available in more conventional styles.

I used to have a link to the shopping site but it was no longer operative. I checked on it again after you question. These shelves were around €1100 or roughly $1500, and were on sale from stores that carry designs by Lago. I was not able to locate a new supplier at this time. I will post if I find one.
